Emergency Care

Self help for back pain can be attained by applying ice packs or a frozen bag of vegetables to the affected area for 10 minutes every hour, but make sure the pack is covered, either by a damp cloth or a towel. This should help reduce inflammation and pain. If your back has not settled within a couple of days, please give us a call.

Gentle exercise, such as walking, is also good. Don’t take to your bed and lie still as this will further aggravate the condition and may slow recovery.

Julie K says:

I had suffered from neck and shoulder discomfort for nine months as a result of a whiplash injury and although I had other manipulative treatment which helped in the short term, it didn’t get to the root of the problem. After one treatment the effects were apparent: I used to dread a night’s sleep because my neck would be so painful in the morning. After two treatments the pain was gone and I felt like a new woman.
