IAVC and IVCA

The IAVC courses are designed for professionals from both the veterinary and human chiropractic fields. The educational backgrounds of the two professions make up the foundation on which the course is built. The International Academy considers their curriculum to be the gold standard in the professions today and estimates to have trained well over 90% of all the professionals (vets and chiropractors) who have taken post-graduate animal chiropractic training worldwide.

The IVCA is a non-profit making international organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in the field of Veterinary Chiropractic.

The association endeavours to establish consistently high standards of Veterinary Chiropractic through approved educational courses, certification examinations and the membership code of conduct and standard of proficiency.

Membership to the IVCA is only granted to qualified veterinarians or chiropractors (or individuals qualified in both professions) upon successful completion of approved veterinary chiropractic postgraduate training, board certification exams and adherence to membership rules and regulations.

The IVCA aims to promote veterinary chiropractic so its contribution to the health of animals is understood and recognised by other health care professions and the general public, both nationally and internationally.

The IVCA attempts to protect animals by providing the general public and other professionals with access to the IVCA register of members.

To ensure the development of the veterinary chiropractic profession the IVCA requires members to undertake regular continuing professional development (CPD) and supports and encourages research.

The IVCA has members in many countries and strives to coordinate Veterinary Chiropractic on an international basis. It is expected that each country, province or principality will eventually develop regional veterinary chiropractic groups to respond to local issues, as has already happened in several countries.

I found the McTimoney method of chiropractic a gentler, more holistic approach which treated the root of the problem and not just the symptoms therefore providing a long-term solution rather than a quick fix.
